Torres in! Spain's World Cup squad revealed

Chelsea's Fernando Torres has been included in Spain's 30-man provisional World Cup squad despite a poor season while Tottenham's Roberto Soldado has missed out.

The Blues striker has endured a difficult season at Stamford Bridge but has been a key part of the reigning world champions' squad in recent years and has been included by Vicente del Bosque.

However, Soldado has paid the price for a poor debut season at White Hart Lane and misses out on playing in Brazil.

Aside from Torres, Del Bosque has included eight more Premier League players, including Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina, who has spent the season on loan at Napoli.

The others are Manchester City trio David Silva, Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo, Manchester United pair David De Gea and Juan Mata, Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta and Arsenal's Santi Cazorla.

Uncapped duo Ander Iturraspe and Daniel Carvajal have both made the cut but there is some shock that Real Madrid pair Alvaro Arbeloa and Isco have been omitted.

The defending champions have included seven players from Barcelona and four each from Champions League finalists Real and Atletico Madrid.

Del Bosque will announce his final 23-man squad on May 25.

Spain have a tough task to make the last-16 in Brazil as they face Holland, the team they beat in the final four years ago, Chile and Australia in Group D.
