It means that it's a landmark deal for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney who clearly mean business this summer.

Having started his career in Ireland, he moved to England and joined Sunderland in 2011 before moving to Wigan in 2013.

McClean then left the Latics to join West Brom in 2015 where he made over 100 appearances before joining Stoke City in 2018, before returning to Wigan in 2021.

“As I said in the summer, it’s about being patient and getting the players in who can be strong additions to our squad moving forward.”

With 550 professional appearances and 69 goals to his name - not to mention 11 in 100 for his country - McClean's arrival will undoubtedly bolster Wrexham's chances this term.

He'll join EFL stalwarts Callum McFadzean at the club, as well as former Manchester United and England goalkeeper Ben Foster who extended his stay following his short-term deal last term.

With goal-machine Paul Mullin also in the side, Wrexham will be hoping that they are well geared up for a second-successive promotion after ending their 15-year stay in the National League last term.
