Former Liverpool star Fabinho was presented with a Rolex following his stand-out performance for Al Ittihad at the weekend.

The Brazilian left Anfield last month in a £40million switch which has seen him link up with Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante at the reigning Saudi Pro League champions.

And the midfielder impressed on the opening weekend of the season, so much so that his efforts were appreciated by a Saudi Arabian journalist

Footage emerged of the Brazilian leaving the stadium shortly after his side’s 3-0 win at Al Raed, when he was stopped by Ibrahim Al-Faryan.

Al-Faryan then gifted the 29-year-old the Rolex watch, which was received with a warm smile.

However, as Fabinho walked away, he subsequently dropped the flashy watch, much to his dismay.

After a quick check, it appeared that there was no damage done and Fabinho thanked the journalist before making his way home.

The midfielder was named in Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting eleven for the clash as Al Ittihad kicked off their title defence.

With a much-improved squad, the Portuguese coach will again be expected to contest the title race this season.

But they are unlikely to have it all their own way with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr expected to challenge despite opening the season with a 2-1 defeat at Steven Gerrard’s Al Ettifaq.

Al Hilal kicked off their campaign with a 3-1 win at Abha thanks to a hat-trick from Brazilian winger Malcom.

Jorge Jesus’ side will be one to watch this season with Neymar closing in on a switch and PSG teammate Marco Verratti also mulling over a move.
