Crook: Rodriguez and Clyne could follow Pochettino to Tottenham

talkSPORT's man on the south coast Alex Crook claims there is nothing stopping newly appointed Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino from raiding former club Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Spurs put to bed months of speculation on Tuesday by confirming Pochettino had signed a five-year contract at White Hart Lane, with the Argentine taking assistant manager Jesus Perez, first-team coach Miguel D'Agostino and goalkeeping coach Toni Jimenez with him to north London.

The 42-year-old built a close bond with the Southampton squad during his 18-month reign at St Mary’s, and Crook believes he could persuade some of the club’s rising stars to join him at Spurs.

“There’s nothing stopping Pochettino from going back to raid Southampton for his old players,” Crook told Drivetime.

“The fact he resigned from his Saints contract is quite interesting, he paid his own buy-out clause and there was no condition that he couldn’t go back in the summer and resign anyone.

"Striker Jay Rodriguez has been heavily linked to a move to White Hart Lane and you could see [23-year-old defender] Nathaniel Clyne perhaps filling that right-back spot Tottenham have missed over the past few seasons.”
