Bayern Munich 4-3 Manchester United LIVE REACTION: Kane scores in seven-goal thriller as Onana admits ‘start hasn’t been so good’

Manchester United failed to put their recent woes aside after they opened their Champions League campaign on the wrong side of a seven-goal thriller against Bayern Munich.

The Red Devils, who have been in turmoil on and off the pitch in recent weeks, suffered a disappointing 4-3 defeat in Germany.

The result was off the back of a 3-1 home scalp to Brighton that meant the club have lost three consecutive matches for the first time since April 2019 under Ole Gunnar Solskjær.

United had started the contest well before an Andre Onana howler allowed Leroy Sane's shot to squeeze underneath him on 28 minutes and Serge Gnabry added a second four minutes later.

Rasmus Hojlund halved the deficit after the break with his first goal for the club but a controversial VAR handball allowed former transfer target Harry Kane to restore the two-goal advantage from the penalty spot minutes later.

United did offer a late fightback with Casemiro notching a brace either side of a Mathys Tel stoppage-time effort but it was too little too late.
