Kyle Walker has revealed what triggered a high profile full time bust-up between Arsenal and Manchester City.

In the final Premier League match before the current international break the Gunners won 1-0 at the Emirates through a late deflected Gabriel Martinelli winner.

The win was Arsenal’s first in the league against title rivals City in 15 games, triggering jubilant scenes at the final whistle.

However, things turned slightly sour when the players headed to the tunnel, with Walker and Erling Haaland seemingly at the centre of the trouble.

Walker has now admitted his reaction may have been over the top, but it was triggered by a former City employee, set piece coach Nicolas Jovers.

"I don’t like losing,” Walker said. “A couple of matches before, Nico, who worked for Man City, and he did not want to shake hands when we beat them before.

“When we lost, he wanted to shake my hand and I did not take it lightly. Simple as that.

‌"I haven’t been in touch but I have been concentrating on England but I will probably reach out to him, definitely. I will say, it was probably a bit too much.

"It shows the standards I have achieved and what I have learnt over the years, it is a big match there and losing in the way we did and so late on hurts. But if it did not hurt I am probably at the wrong club as we are title contenders."

After the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said he didn’t see what happened, while Pep Guardiola commented: "I know what happened, but I don’t want to say anything. They know it."
