‘Pathetic’ – Liverpool fans left fuming as VAR punishes Alexis Mac Allister for handball late on in Toulouse defeat

Liverpool fans expressed their anger at VAR as Jarell Quansah's equaliser against Toulouse was ruled out after an Alexis Mac Allister handball.
The Reds have so far cruised in Group E of the Europa League but fell to a 3-2 defeat away at the Ligue 1 side on Thursday night.
Quansah thought he had salvaged a point for Liverpool deep into second-half stoppage-time with his goal from inside the area.
However, VAR checked it and spotted a handball from Mac Allister earlier on despite it being in a different phase of play.
After a long wait, the goal was eventually chalked off and Toulouse held on to win and end Liverpool's unbeaten streak in Europe.
Jurgen Klopp's side remain top of the group by two points but fans on social media were left angered with the disallowed goal.
Taking to X, one said: "Can’t quite understand this one, feels like we were robbed of a point. Below par performance from us though."
"Robbed of a goal but couldn’t care less tbh [to be honest], meaningless game," said a second, who doesn't seem too fazed by the result.
A third added: "Just another pathetic decision. We are used to it. Fortunately this time, this result will not affect us too much."
"Just laughable at this point," said a fourth as Liverpool begin to look back on what was a sub-par performance in France.
Toulouse, who sit 14th in Ligue 1, took the lead through Aron Donnum in the first half before making it 2-0 thanks to Thijs Dallinga.
An own-goal from Cristian Casseres Jr. pulled Liverpool back into the game but the hosts restored their two-goal lead moments later with Frank Magri's strike.
Diogo Jota's fine run and finish offered the Reds another glimmer of hope for a draw before Quansah's effort was disallowed.
