‘Love this mentality’ – Liverpool fans in awe of Jarell Quansah’s blunt answer on Joel Matip injury

Liverpool defender Jarell Quansah has delighted fans with his self-belief after giving a blunt response to Joel Matip's injury.
The 20-year-old is enjoying a breakthrough season with the Reds - featuring in 12 games in all competitions so far.
And he opened his account for the Merseyside outfit on Thursday as he scored in the 2-1 defeat in the club's final Europa League group stage tie against Union Saint-Gilloise.
With Matip suffering a serious knee injury and in danger of missing the rest of the campaign, Quansah has set his sights on being a permanent starter.
Speaking after his side's defeat in Belgium, the England youth international insisted he will try and take his chances in the Cameroonian's absence.
He told LFC TV: "At the start of the season when I’ve stayed and not gone on-loan I thought I want to play in these games.
"So obviously, it’s a shame what happened to Joel (Matip) and my condolences go to him.
"But my idea was to try and get over him anyway and try and be a starting centre-back in the .
"Hopefully more opportunities come, I'm just really trying to push on and be the best centre-back I can.
Liverpool fans loved his brutal answer on social media, as one X user said: "No malice meant at all from him. Love the mentality. That’s how it should be."
Another commented: "This is the mentality we need our players to have. No one’s position is safe."
A third added: "Young hungry and absolutely ruthless to where he wants to be, if it wasn’t Joel he’d probably say the same about VVD…"
This supporter remarked: "That’s elite level thinking right there!"
Meanwhile another simply stated: "Love this. Proper winners mentality."
Jurgen Klopp has already stated he won't bring in another centre-back in January, which will likely give Quansah more first-team opportunities.
But despite starting the last two matches, it remains to be seen if Quansah will feature against rivals Manchester United on Sunday.
Klopp may prefer Ibrahima Konate to partner Virgil van Dijk in the heart of defence.
