And he opened his account for the Merseyside outfit on Thursday as he scored in the 2-1 defeat in the club's final Europa League group stage tie against Union Saint-Gilloise.

With Matip suffering a serious knee injury and in danger of missing the rest of the campaign, Quansah has set his sights on being a permanent starter.

Speaking after his side's defeat in Belgium, the England youth international insisted he will try and take his chances in the Cameroonian's absence.

Jurgen Klopp addresses Anfield crowd and jokes that Liverpool 'got lucky' with brilliant signings in summer transfer window

This supporter remarked: "That’s elite level thinking right there!"

Meanwhile another simply stated: "Love this. Proper winners mentality."

Jurgen Klopp has already stated he won't bring in another centre-back in January, which will likely give Quansah more first-team opportunities.

But despite starting the last two matches, it remains to be seen if Quansah will feature against rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Klopp may prefer Ibrahima Konate to partner Virgil van Dijk in the heart of defence.
