Fans demand Mikel Arteta reinstates Aaron Ramsdale as pass which should have led to goal goes viral
Anything David Raya can do, Aaron Ramsdale can do better.
That’s at least according to a certain group of Arsenal fans, who were left convinced by the English goalkeeper’s ball-playing ability in the FA Cup.

Ramsdale was upstaged as the Gunners’ no.1 in the summer by the signing of David Raya, who, while widely considered to be an improvement, has far from eclipsed his predecessor.
The Spaniard was brought in from Brentford, largely down to his ball-playing ability, but Ramsdale got to display his footwork against Liverpool.
The 25-year-old started in the Cup with Raya on the bench, and just minutes into the third round tie he almost had an assist.
With the ball just outside of his area, Ramsdale launched a pass over all 20 outfield players, beautifully past Ibrahima Konate and onto the toes of Reiss Nelson.

Nelson opted to try and take it round Alisson Becker, but overdid the move, only managing to prod the ball into the side-netting while attempting a shot.
The finish still took nothing away from the pass, though, and fans of Ramsdale were quick to highlight it.
“I will never give up for Ramsdale until he leaves my club... what a pass,” one wrote on X, while another added: “Imagine that was a killer striker that received the ball? Ramsdale over Raya every day."
Ramsdale didn’t have much to do for the rest of the half, but as the intensity upped in the second, he denied Luis Diaz with a brilliant save when the Colombian was expecting his quick finish to end up in the net.

However, just moments later, the former Sheffield United and Bournemouth man was left wanting as Liverpool took the lead.
Coming out for an incredibly dangerous Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick, Ramsdale completely misread the ball, flying into a melee of players as Jakub Kiwior accidentally headed in.

Discussing Ramsdale earlier in the week, Arsenal legend and talkSPORT host Ray Parlour had plenty of sympathy for the keeper’s plight.
“I think he’s been hard done by, I have to be honest,” he said. “I don’t think he did a lot wrong before Raya joined.

“But I’m not in training every day, I don’t see what happens and I’m not with the goalkeeping coaches.
“They got Brentford’s goalkeeping coach in and he’s probably said to Mikel Arteta, ‘we need to buy Raya.’
“Ramsdale’s got to be patient but there’s already people calling for him now. I wouldn’t blame the goalkeeper for the last few defeats though, the performances haven’t been good enough all around the pitch.
“What happens with Aaron? I don’t think he leaves this window, but at the end of the season he’s got to make a big decision, if he’s not playing then he might have to move on.”
