Sven-Goran Eriksson will get his wish to be part of the Liverpool management team for a legends' game against Ajax in March.

The former England boss revealed last month that he has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and has around a year left to live.

Eriksson admitted to being a lifelong Liverpool fan and always dreamt of becoming the club’s manager.

That sparked a campaign from Reds fans calling on the club to appoint him as manager for a Liverpool legends game.

And the Premier League giants have now confirmed Eriksson will be part of the Liverpool management team for the game against Ajax Legends at Anfield on March 23.

Outgoing Reds boss Jurgen Klopp previously led an outpouring of support and backed the club to plan an unforgettable day for the 75-year-old.

"It was obviously very touching news when you heard about it," Klopp said last month.

"I heard for the first time about his admiration or love for Liverpool and that he was a fan for his whole life. I heard now about the Legends game and stuff like that. I'm not in charge of that.

"The only thing I can say is absolutely he's very welcome to come here and he can sit in my seat in my office and do my job for a day if he wants. That's no problem.

"He can come over and have a few wonderful hours here, I'm sure."

The Swede will have his family in attendance for the match and will be part of the management team consisting of club legends Ian Rush, John Barnes and John Aldridge for the LFC Foundation charity match.
