Redknapp reveals Granero to stay at QPR and issues Taarabt warning

Harry Redknapp reveals Esreban Granero to stay at QPR and issues Adel Taarabt warning

QPR boss Harry Redknapp insists Spanish midfielder Esteban Granero wants to stay at Loftus Road, but admits Adel Taarabt is keen to head back to AC Milan.

Both midfielders spent last season away from west London - Granero had an injury-ravaged spell at Real Sociedad, while Taarabt was loaned to Milan.

La Liga side Real Sociedad have been keen to get Granero, 27, back on board, but their negotiations with QPR have stalled in recent days.

Now Redknapp has revealed that the former Real Madrid man is keen to ply his trade in the Premier League next season.

He said: “Granero has come back fit. He had a knee ligament injury last year at Real Sociedad but has come back fit, worked hard and showed good character.

“He’s a smashing lad and wants to stay. I hope we can get the best out of him and he can have a good season for us.”

Meanwhile, Redknapp is aware Taarabt would prefer to return to Italy but says the mercurial Moroccan will stay at Loftus Road if Milan don’t stump up the cash needed to take him to the San Siro.

He added: “Adel would like to go back to Milan possibly, but if they don’t pay the money he will stay here.”
