Ex-Lions player and manager Neil Harris is set to return to the Den from Cambridge to replace Edwards.

Edwards was brought in in November after Gary Rowett was sacked, but Millwall have continued to slide towards relegation.

He won just four of his 19 games in charge and leaves the Lions just a point above the Championship drop zone.

Harris spent two separate spells at The Den as a player, while was a caretaker manager and permanent manager previously.

Remarkably, he has gone from managing in League Two to League One and the Championship all in the same season.

He began the 2023/24 campaign in charge of Gillingham before being sacked in October.

He was only appointed to the Cambridge job in December, signing an 18-month contract.

Now he will return to The Den as he looks to steer them away from the drop zone.

Harris played 432 times for Millwall across two different spells as a player.

He first was caretaker manager for three games between December 2013 and January 2014, before later getting the job full-time in 2015.

He got them promoted to the Championship from League One in 2017.
