Sir Jim Ratcliffe given three-man list of stars to sign to transform Manchester United’s fortunes

With Manchester United already preparing for the summer transfer window, their scouts are undoubtedly already drawing up lists of targets.
Erik ten Hag’s side didn’t make any moves in the January market, but with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of 27.7 per cent of the club’s shares confirmed, the summer could be very different.
Ratcliffe has already snared Omar Berrada from Manchester City as the club’s new CEO, and is working on a deal to bring Dan Ashworth in from Newcastle as sporting director.
That suggests there will be a revolution in United’s transfer business, with the club’s failed dealings coming under plenty of scrutiny in recent years.
Supporters are starting to dream of what could come this summer, and talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein is one of them, naming a three-man list of targets.
“The man Jim Ratcliffe should be looking at is Jarrad Branthwaite,” he said. “We've had problems with that position for a long time with injuries.
“There’s question marks about Victor Lindelof’s long-term future, Harry Maguire, and when you’re getting players like Luke Shaw playing at centre back you know you have problems with the squad.
“I love Lisandro Martinez, I’m a big fan of Raphael Varane but his best days are behind him, so they need to bring in a future England regular.”
“The reason I’ve gone for Kimmich is we need experience, he’s 29 years old and he’s a brilliant fully-fledged German international.
“You’re getting more than a right back as he can play in the centre of midfield too. There are question marks in Man United’s midfield sometimes so you’re bringing in someone with bundles of experience and you need winners in your dressing room.
“Everyone loves Pedro Neto. He’s young and every single side in the Premier League would want him.
“He’s the type of player Liverpool might look at if [Mohamed] Salah moves on, he’s a fantastic player. I don’t think he’ll be there next season.”
“The other two I went for were Frenkie de Jong and Ivan Toney. I love Rasmus Hojlund and its competition. Hojlund is so young and to get someone with experience who improves everyone.”
