Liverpool starlet Lewis Koumas is son of Championship great and was sent off in bloody brawl before making ‘lifelong dream’ come true

Lewis Koumas is the latest Liverpool youngster to make his dreams come true.
The 18-year-old scored in his first Reds game last night as he netted in a 3-0 win against Southampton in the FA Cup.
He played 63 minutes of the game and it was enough time to prove just how good he can be in front of Jurgen Klopp.
Koumas has starred for Liverpool’s academy and has now taken his chance in the first-team, bringing his familiar name into the limelight.
After scoring at Anfield, his name spread around social media and fans were instantly taken back to the 2000s.
That’s because he is the son of Championship great Jason Koumas.

Jason has been described as a ‘genius’ and his natural talent was regularly compared to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
The Welsh star is considered by many to have been a superb player but his saw him never reach the top.
He retired in 2015 and now nine years later, his son is being tipped to be a star.
Koumas has followed in his father’s footsteps by starting in Liverpool's youth ranks and that is where he caught Klopp’s eye.

The forward has 27 goals in 43 games at youth level for the club and now has one goal in one game for the first team.
It hasn’t all been good for Koumas though, as during a UEFA Youth League clash against Porto last year, he was sent off following a brawl.
The teenager helped his side beat the Portuguese outfit to reach the quarter-finals of the European competition on penalties.
However, after the shootout, things turned sour as both sets of players clashed with punches being thrown.
Staff and officials rushed onto the pitch to break things up but couldn’t stop Ben Doak from emerging with a bloody lip.
Koumas was involved in the fight and received a red card alongside two Porto players for their role in the scrap after the final whistle.
That could have been a moment that summed up the teenager’s fledgling career but he didn’t let the punishment affect him long-term.
He was straight back to showing what he can do for Liverpool’s academy and that has led to him making a full debut at Anfield.
And after scoring on his first appearance, he had achieved a ‘lifelong dream’.
Posting after the 3-0 win over Southampton, Koumas wrote on X: “A lifelong dream come true to score on my debut at Anfield, a night I’ll never forget. Thank you @LFC!”
Manager Klopp was full of praise for him post-match too, saying: “A wonderful goal.
"A boy playing on the left wing against a senior player in a team with not a lot of patterns, let me say it like that, is tricky.

“Staying in the game for these moments just shows he is a real striker because the goal is exceptional, the step in and then he shoots before the goalie can settle. A really good finish.”
Koumas looks set to be the latest academy star to break into Liverpool’s first team and he could be on the way to a special career.
