Kalvin Phillips caught on camera swearing at a West Ham fan who called him ‘useless’ following Newcastle defeat

West Ham midfielder Kalvin Phillips was seen giving the middle finger as he reacted to abuse from the travelling fans.
The Hammers lost 4-3 away at Newcastle on Saturday despite leading 3-1, with supporters singling out the England international for criticism.
Phillips, on loan from Manchester City, replaced Michail Antonio with the Hammers holding onto a two-goal lead at St James' Park.
He subsequently gave away a controversial penalty for accidentally kicking Anthony Gordon - which Alexander Isak converted to make it 3-2.
The east Londoners fell to pieces afterwards, with substitute Harvey Barnes scoring two late goals to see the Magpies claim all three points.
And in a video shared by , Phillips was caught on camera swearing at an angry fan.
As he made his way back on the team coach, one supporter could be heard calling the 28-year-old 'useless'.
Phillips then reacted by flipping them the bird through the windshield, before retreating away.
Fans have been left divided over the incident, as one X user said: "Yep, Kalvin Phillips can f*** off back to City."
Another remarked: "Good lad Kalvin. F*** them."
A third added: "Unreal from him. If you can abuse a player, he can give some back."
And this fan messaged: "Really bad look. Not sure there is any coming back for Kalvin Phillips at West Ham."
Meanwhile this user simply stated: "Fan deserved it."
Phillips has struggled for form since joining West Ham, which saw him left out of Gareth Southgate's latest England squad ahead of Euro 2024.
After gifting a goal away on his Hammers debut, he was then red carded on his fourth appearance.
