Video: Xavi’s best passes

Barcelona midfielder Xavi has announced his retirement from international football.

The 34-year-old has been an integral part of Spain's success in recent years, but has decided to bow out after winning 133 caps.

He helped his country to dominate the international scene, with World Cup glory in 2010 sandwiched in between two European Championship titles.

Following a disastrous World Cup defence for Spain in Brazil, which saw the holders crash out at the group stage, Xavi has now decided to call it quits to focus on his club career.

“I have decided to retire from international football,” he told a press conference on Tuesday. “I’m grateful for all those years. It has been a fantastic time.”
