Mohamed Salah is a world-class goalscorer, but Paul Ince explains why Liverpool’s main man is NOT a world class player

Mohamed Salah may not be a world-class player, but he is definitely one hell of a goalscorer.
That is the verdict from former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince, who played for the Reds from 1995 to 1997.
Salah, considered one of the greatest to have ever played for the club, was being discussed on talkSPORT Drive following the news that the Saudi Pro League would once again try and lure him to the Middle East.
It comes a year after Liverpool rejected a £150m offer for him, with the moneybags league thought to be readying a similar offer for a player who will soon have 12 months to run on his contract.
"I think his record speaks for itself," Ince said when asked about whether Salah can be considered world class. He continued: "Is he a world-class player? Technically, I wouldn't say so.
"I think sometimes when he cuts in on his left foot, putting balls into the box, they are not great.
"But as a far as a world-class player scoring goals and making things happen, I think yes."
Salah signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2017, joining from Roma, where he stunned the Premier League with a phenomenal debut season.
In 36 Premier League appearances, he scored 32 times and has netted 209 in total from 340 appearances - putting him third in Liverpool's all-time highest goalscorers list.
That is more than many Liverpool legends, including Steven Gerrard, Robbie Fowler and Kenny Dalglish.
In addition, he scored 19 Premier League goals in the 2019/20 season as Liverpool won their first domestic league title since 1990. He also scored five times en route to Liverpool's Champions League triumph in 2019, including one in the final against Tottenham.
If this is his last season at Anfield, it could end on another high, with Liverpool locked in a tense title race with Arsenal and Manchester City.
He is likely to break the 20-goal barrier in the Premier League and, not only would it bring about a fairytale end to his career in England, it would also give his manager Jurgen Klopp a great send off.
Earlier this year, Klopp shocked fans when he announced he will depart the club after nine years in charge. With the Carabao Cup won, the players will want to ensure it ends in more glory.
