Scotland continue their Euro 2024 campaign this evening and they must win to book their place in the knockout stages.

The Tartan Army don't have the best record at the European Championship, but after a draw against Switzerland, they could be set to make history.

Steve Clarke's men fell to a heavy defeat against hosts Germany in their opening game of this summer's tournament.

However, avoiding defeat against the Swiss has kept their hopes alive and they now have to beat Hungary, live on talkSPORT, to progress.

Have Scotland ever made it to the knockout stages of the Euros?

Scotland's relationship with UEFA's international showpiece has been sketchy at best.

Since its inception in 1960, the Tartan Army have played in just three tournaments and have never reached the knockout stages.

The first was in 1992, followed by one in 1996 and the latest in 2020.

In that time, their lack of progress means that they've only played nine games at the European Championship.

Of these nine, Scotland have won two, one each in 1992 and 1996.

Across the three tournaments, the Tartan Army have scored five goals and conceded ten.

Their last experience at the Euros was a bit shambolic as they failed to win a game, despite playing two matches on home soil.

Scotland managed a 0-0 draw with England at Wembley but defeats at Hampden either side to the Czech Republic and Croatia saw them finish bottom of the group.

This time, the Scots are in a group with Germany, Hungary and Switzerland.

Two teams will definitely qualify for the knockout stages of Euro 2024 and Germany are already through, with Switzerland set to progress too.

However, third could also be enough and a win against Hungary will see Scotland make history in this competition.
