David de Gea took to social media to show off his goalkeeping skills as he eyes a return to football.

The 33-year-old left Manchester United as a free agent last summer after an 11-year spell at Old Trafford but is still yet to find a new club.

De Gea made 545 appearances for the club across all competitions and won the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.

He even won his second Golden Glove in his final season but is still unemployed.

Despite almost a year out of action, a video posted on his shows that the Spaniard is still as good as ever in between the sticks.

Slow motion footage shows a shot heading towards the top corner and De Gea leaps high to his right with his arm outstretched to try and save it.

Just as it's about to fly into the back of the net he's able to get his middle finger to it, sending the shot onto the post and away from goal.

De Gea's United exit came after he failed to agree to an extension of his contract at the club, which expired last June.

He was in advanced talks with Real Madrid over a potential move but they recruited Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea instead.

United were even reportedly planning a shock U-turn to bring De Gea back to replace Andre Onana whilst he was at the Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon.

However, this didn't materialise and despite links with a switch to Newcastle in January, he is yet to have signed for a new club.

This could change in the coming months through as clubs across Europe prepare for the opening of the summer transfer window.
