Manchester United to relaunch bid to sign Benfica defender Victor Lindelof in the summer

Manchester United are expected to relaunch their bid to sign Victor Lindelof in the summer after failing with their January pursuit of the Benfica defender.

The 22-year-old Sweden international was linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the winter transfer window after impressing in Portugal this season.

According to reports in Portugal, United held talks with Benfica on deadline day over a potential last-minute deal, with Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira reportedly flying to England on to meet with officials from the Premier League giants.

However, talks proved unsuccessful as Lindelof's asking price of over £30million caused negotiations to collapse.

But United will return for the centre-back in the summer having informed Benfica they remain interested in doing a deal.
