But the showpiece was halted just seconds after kick-off as three pitch invaders burst onto the turf.

Another pitch invader was seen doing Cristiano Ronaldo's signature 'SIUUU' celebration.

Dortmund's Marcel Sabitzer was forced to intervene and give the stewards a helping hand.

The men were eventually cleared off the pitch, with play resuming just under three minutes later.

In a , a Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: "It is illegal to enter the field of play at Wembley Stadium, and we strongly condemn the actions of those who interrupted the UEFA Champions League Final shortly after kick-off.

"All of the individuals have now been arrested. We will support the relevant authorities to ensure appropriate action is taken."

TV cameras panned away from the scenes, but Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti was seen looking unimpressed.

Meanwhile, the Dortmund bench also appeared frustrated, and multiple players were up in arms.

In 2019, Kinsey Wolanski threw herself into the public domain when she ran onto the pitch during the 2019 Champions League final.

Liverpool and Tottenham's blockbuster clash was halted at the Wanda Metropolitan in Madrid, but Wolanski was soon escorted off the pitch to allow play to resume.

The FA will face further questions over security despite deploying 2,500 stewards in their biggest-ever operation at Wembley.

It comes after the Euro 2020 final between England and Italy was plunged into chaos when thousands of ticketless fans breached the Wembley gates.
