REVEALED! Middlesbrough target Jese Rodriguez explains why he turned down Teesside switch

Paris Saint-Germain winger Jese Rodriguez has revealed why he turned down a potential January move to Middlesbrough in favour of a loan to LaLiga side Las Palmas.

The former Real Madrid man had fallen out of favour in the French capital and was available once the window opened.

At one point towards the end of the winter window, it appeared the 23-year-old Spanish star was close to joining the Premier League side, with manager Aitor Karanka a big fan of the talented forward.

However, he ultimately decided against a move to England and instead joined hometown club Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria.

And now Jese has lifted the lid on why he opted to head home.

He told Cadena Ser: "I'm a man of my word and I told [president Miguel Angel] Ramirez that if I left PSG, I would go to Las Palmas.

"I need to be close to my family, to my people.

"I am thankful for the interest of other teams, but my thoughts were always clear. I wanted to come here.

"It's the perfect time to come, I need to play and have continuity. I think things are going to go well for me."
