Sam Kerr appears to say emotional goodbye to Chelsea fans – only to announce new contract 20 minutes later in bizarre move

Chelsea Women's striker Sam Kerr stole the football headlines on Thursday morning with the most confusing of contract announcements.
The Australian lit up social media at 9.00am with an emotional video and then shortly later announced she was extending her four-year stay.
The original clip included the line 'I didn't know how to have this conversation' and 'my time at Chelsea has been unforgettable' and she seemed to almost broke up on multiple occasions.
However, it was all a clever trick as it was then confirmed she was staying.
Kerr was seen watching the clip on her phone before turning to the camera and saying: "Guys, what's all this, I'm not leaving!"
She then finishes by saying: "Did you really think I was going to leave on 99 goals?"
The clip left Chelsea fans baffled with one commenting: "I honestly don't understand."
Kerr has been a revelation since joining the Blues from Chicago Red Stars in 2019, becoming arguably the best striker in the game and one of women's football's best players.
However, the departure of long-time head coach Emma Hayes to the US national team did lead to speculation around a number of top talents.
Their talismanic striker has put any rumours around her to bed, though, and there are rumblings things could get even better.
Reports in Spain claim Chelsea could make a big money move for Barcelona megastar and Ballon d'Or winner Aitana Bonmati.
That would make things even better for the free-scoring Kerr, but it's not as if she needs any more help finding the back of the net.
Kerr has 78 goal involvements in 75 WSL games and is five-time league winner, three-time FA Cup champion and two-time League Cup winner.
