Michael Oliver blasted for ‘awful decision’ to rule out Germany goal in Euro 2024 clash against Denmark

Darren Bent fumed at Michael Oliver's decision to disallow Nico Schlotterbeck's goal for Germany in their 2-0 win against Denmark.
Germany took an early lead against Denmark in their last 16 tie at Euro 2024 through a headed goal from Schlotterbeck from a set piece.
However, Premier League referee Oliver immediately ruled out the fourth-minute header as he spotted a foul by Joshua Kimmich.
Speaking live on air, talkSPORT pundit Bent reacted furiously as he hit out at the English match official.
Bent fumed: "Looking at it again, usually a tell-tale sign is from the opposition players.
"But the goalkeeper doesn't say anything, and no defenders says anything.

"And looking at the replay, I don't see anything wrong with that whatsoever.
"[Ilkay] Gundogan doesn't impede the goalkeeper, Schlotterbeck gets up really early, he heads it in.
"And not one person complains, so if they're talking about a little minimal block [from Kimmich], come on. That's an awful decision. Awful."
But the controversy did not end there after lightning stopped play, with Oliver giving a contentious penalty in the 52nd minute.

Oliver went to the pitchside monitor before giving the penalty, which was dispatched with class by Kai Havertz.
Bent was raging again, saying: "Michael Oliver has had a bit of a nightmare tonight, first with Schlotterbeck and now that. That is a poor decision."
Jamal Musiala then sealed the victory in the 68th minute for the Euro 2024 hosts, who have showcased just how dangerous they can be in front of goal.
