Eddie Howe has already made thoughts on England job clear as footage re-emerges with Newcastle boss on FA’s radar

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe once declared he would 'never say no' to England having been identified as a possible replacement for Gareth Southgate.
Southgate announced on Tuesday that he has stepped down as Three Lions boss, just says after the Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, ending an eight-year spell in charge.
It has led to Howe, Mauricio Pochettino and Graham Potter emerging as possible candidates to take over the 1966 World Cup winners.
And talkSPORT understands that Howe would consider an offer from England - something Newcastle legend Alan Shearer would dread to happen.
It's not the first time the 36-year-old has been linked with the position, having been touted as a possible option in 2016 prior to Sam Allardyce's appointment.
In footage that has reemerged following Southgate's resignation, Howe discussed managing England when speaking on the in 2016.
Speaking during his spell in charge at Bournemouth he told Match of the Day host Gary Lineker: "The England job, I think, is the ultimate. I would never say no."
Though he was quick to stress that he would remain loyal to his club, in a sign that may be welcomed news for nervous Newcastle fans.
He added during the 2016 footage: “That's not something I want to consider.
"It's not something in my immediate thoughts. My immediate thoughts are for this club and this job."
“If I want to be the best manager I can be, I need to get ‘now’ right.
“That’s why I’d say I’m fiercely ambitious for this club - if the club does well, the team does well, everyone will benefit.”
He was then quizzed on his future in 2022, where he stressed he remains fully committed to the Magpies, insisting managing England wasn't in his thinking.
Howe remarked: "I never say never, never say, ‘No, it won't be something I am interested in’.
“But in the short-term it is not on my radar at all. It is all Newcastle and trying to make this team better.
"I have always said I love the day to day coaching, love being with the players on the training ground, [with] international football you get that taken away for long periods.
"At this moment in my life that is not something I want to do."
And Howe again remained coy on ever coaching England during his appearance on Gary Neville's in May.
He stated: "I love Gareth [Southgate] and I’ve got a real determination for England to win.
"I’ve never really thought about international football for me, personally. Who knows what will happen in the future.”
Newcastle CEO Darren Eales meanwhile has issued a hands-off warning to England in regard to their possible pursuit of Howe.
He said: "It is speculation on Eddie. He has been an amazing manager at the club and he is committed to Newcastle with the work that he has done.
"We are obviously committed to him and had a multi-year extension last summer signed.
“We are on an exciting journey and as far as we are concerned Eddie is the man to lead us on that journey. From our perspective, there is nothing to add. We’ve not had recent discussions."
Before adding: "As far as we’re concerned we’re focused on the new pre-season, excited to be here in Adidas HQ getting ready for the new pre-season.
"As you know with Eddie, the smile on his face when he’s out there with the players. This is what he loves, the two-a-days, working with the players.
“From that perspective he’s committed and doing what you’d expect from Eddie which is focusing on the season ahead.
"I don’t want to deal with hypotheticals. As I mentioned he’s on a multi-year extension that was signed last summer so from that perspective he’s a Newcastle United employee."
