Both sides are coming towards the end of their time in the States, and it's been relatively successful for both teams.

Arne Slot's men have won both of their games, including a 2-1 victory over Arsenal last time out.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag's men lost to the Gunners but beat Real Betis 3-2.

Now both sides will be aiming for a win as preparations for the 2024/25 campaign ramp up.

Manchester United vs Liverpool: Yoro in a spot of bother

Leny Yoro's first start as a Man United player couldn't have ended much worse.

The brand new £52 million man centre-back started the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal but came off before half time with what appeared to be an ankle injury.

The defender was then spotted in a protective boot and crutches, and it has since been revealed, he's suffered a pretty serious foot injury.

He is now expected to be out of action for three months, meaning he won't return to the first team until late October.

Of course, he could suffer a setback in that time as well, so the Red Devils are suddenly without their main summer signing already.

Man United vs Liverpool: Team news

As already mentioned, Man United are without Yoro for an extended period of time.

Rasmus Hojlund is also injured after suffering a hamstring injury during the Arsenal match, keeping him out for six weeks.

This means Man United are without a natural striker because Joshua Zirkzee is on an extended break, along with Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez after Euro 2024.

Liverpool named a 28-man squad for their tour of the United States, but they've been joined by Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota, Ryan Gravenberch and Ibrahima Konate.

The quartet were given a bit of extra time off after their involvement at the Euros and Copa America.

But there will still be no Virgil van Dijk, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez or Cody Gakpo after playing crucial roles for their countries.

Man United vs Liverpool: What has been said?

Speaking after Liverpool's win over Arsenal, Slot said: "I think even though it's a friendly, you always want to aim for a win.

"You should aim for a win even if you have a small-sided game during a training session. You need to win your games, you try to do everything to win.

"So that's a good thing that we did that today but I'm more pleased about the way we did so.

"Of course, I saw the second half that we had a hard time with Arsenal – they dominated possession completely. But we defended really well and I was really pleased to see this because [there were] a lot of bodies behind the ball every time they arrived into our 16.

"Real big, open chances I don't think they created in the second half. First half, after the first 10 minutes, it was an equal game, where both teams could have scored a few goals more.

"So, [I'm] pleased to see how we played the first half and how we defended the second half."
