Liverpool line up long-term successor to Alisson by opening talks with goalkeeper who starred at Euro 2024

Liverpool may not have made any signings this summer, but they could be about to make progress in the transfer market.
talkSPORT understands the Reds are in talks with Valencia over a potential future move for goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who is being considered as a potential long-term replacement for Alisson.
It is believed to be unlikely that the stopper will make the move to Anfield this summer, with Alisson expected to remain as first-choice for the upcoming season.
As a result, Mamardashvili could join another Premier League side on loan from his current employers, with Bournemouth among his possible destinations.
An immediate Anfield switch would not be possible under league rules, which state that clubs cannot buy a player and loan them to a team in the same division in the same transfer window.
The Georgia international made a name for himself at Euro 2024, impressing as his national team reached the round of 16 in their first ever major tournament.
Mamardashvili played a key role in the tournament, ending the group stage having made 20 saves - seven more than any other goalkeeper at the tournament - including 11 in a 1-1 draw against Czechia, for which he was awarded the Player of the Match award.
The 23-year-old's performances over the summer saw him gain plenty of admirers, including former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy, who has welcomed a potential move to Merseyside.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy said of the goalkeeper: "I actually saw him in the the game where he had that unbelievable match against the Czech Republic.
"Where he was Man on the Match and made a couple of tremendous saves - one of the them was the save of the tournament in many people's eyes.
"He's 6ft 6in, agile, a very confident young keeper. That would be a terrific signing."
And it is not just at international level that Mamardashvili has shone.

Since joining Valencia from hometown club Dynamo Tbilisi in 2021, he has gone on to make 100 senior appearances for the LaLiga outfit, and kept 13 clean sheets in 37 league games last term.
According to , this form had put him on the radar of several European sides before Euro 2024, including Newcastle, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan, and he is valued at more than £38.6million by his current side.
Any transfer activity from the Reds would certainly be welcomed by fans, with new manager Arne Slot yet to make a signing since taking charge at Anfield in June, despite an impressive pre-season.
Real Sociedad target Martin Zubimendi recently turned down the prospect of a £51m move to the English giants.
Meanwhile, the futures of key trio Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been surrounded with uncertainty with their contracts all set to expire at the end of this season, and no agreement yet reached over an extension.
