Former Premier League striker Darren Bent offered a brutal verdict on Antony as he ranked all of Erik ten Hag's former players who have since signed for Manchester United.

The recent arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui meant Ten Hag has now brought five of his former players from his Ajax days to Old Trafford.

Argentinian international Lisandro Martinez was the first to arrive in a £57million deal in July 2022, with Antony joining the following month for a whopping £81m.

Andre Onana took the tally to three when he moved from Inter Milan last summer.

The trio have had mixed success individually since joining the Red Devils but they have all contributed to helping the club win the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup under Ten Hag.

Co-host Andy Goldstein asked ex-Charlton and Tottenham man Bent to rate Ten Hag's former Ajax charges, and the former England international was brutally honest.

Bent branded Martinez a seven out of ten, much to Goldstein's surprise.

The 40-year-old agreed Martinez could have had a higher rating, but his time spent on the sidelines was what held him back.

Since moving to Old Trafford, Martinez has been out injured for a total of 265 days, missing 56 games for club and country.

However, Bent recognised the 26-year-old remains an elite defender.

"Martinez is class," Bent said on talkSPORT Drive.

But Bent also warned Martinez, a centre-back, may have to deputise elsewhere across the backline given one of his teammates' injury woes.

"I think he might have to do a stint out there at left-back when everyone's fit, because of Luke Shaw," Bent said.

"You might have Maguire and De Ligt, or Lindelof and De Ligt, and then Mazraoui."

Goldstein then asked Bent for his verdict on Antony.

Unsurprisingly, it was not kind as Bent labelled Antony a two out of ten.

"And I think I'm being generous with that," Bent added.

"I've always said this, has he had a good time since he's been at Man United? No he hasn't.

"We haven't seen anywhere near enough quality, consistency since he's been there.

"Is he a good player? He has to be. You don't get to that level if you're not."

Goldstein pondered whether the analysis of Antony would be as scathing if his price tag was significantly lower.

Bent replied: "I don't think eyebrows would have been raised as much."

Antony has struggled to find his feet since moving to the Red Devils, scoring just 11 goals and providing five assists from 82 appearances.

His 23-24 Premier League campaign did little to provide hope to those who believed he could turn things around, with a single goal and assist from 29 appearances.

The signing of Onana was a bold move from Ten Hag, especially since the club had just dispensed with long-time goalkeeper David De Gea.

Bent gave the Cameroonian gloveman a six out of ten.

"I think Onana's shown moments of brilliance with some of his saves," Bent said.

"But his distribution at times is a little bit iffy. He flaps a few times as well.

"He's been beaten on occasions when I don't think he should've been beat.
