Exclusive – QPR legend warns against sacking Redknapp

Rodney Marsh says it is not looking good for QPR, but he insists Tony Fernandes will be acting prematurely if he sacks Harry Redknapp.
The Hoops are bottom of the Premier League having won just one of their seven games this season and there are growing calls for Redknapp to be replaced.
But Marsh warned that may not fix their problems, with the club’s legendary former striker telling Hawksbee and Jacobs: “It is a little bit premature.
“We have seen this movie before with Mark Hughes and Neil Warnock, same time of year and the same thing happened.
“Sack the manager, bring in Harry, he doesn’t save QPR but gets them promoted and here we are seven or eight games in and it is sack the manager again. It’s the same thing around and around and around.”
Marsh feels the club have failed to learn the lessons of their previous Premier League campaign, which resulted in relegation, and claims they need more characters like Joey Barton if they are to survive.
“Once you get to the Premier League you have to bring in players to keep you there and historically QPR haven’t done that,” he continued.
“We had this situation the year before last when they brought in five or six journeyman players on big wages, and it seems to me the same thing has happened again.
“If you look at the players only really Joey Barton is that type of [combative] player."
And Marsh feels the biggest blunder the club have made is signing Rio Ferdinand, as he reiterated his belief that the former Manchester United defender is longer capable of performing at the highest level.
“He has turned out to be a total ricket signing, Rio Ferdinand, and how Harry keeps him in the team is beyond me,” he said.
