Exclusive - QPR boss Redknapp 'looks tired' and has lost his spark, claims Allen

Clive Allen has told talkSPORT he believes under pressure QPR manager Harry Redknapp "looks tired" and doesn't have the same spark he once had.

The Super Hoops have struggled in their return to the Premier League and lie rock bottom with just one win from seven games, leading to speculation the ex-Tottenham boss could be on his way out of Loftus Road.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has also done nothing to quell the doubts over Redknapp's job by effectively admitting he is considering the manager's future.

And Allen, who was Redknapp's assistant first-team coach at Tottenahm when the club played in the Champions League, believes a management career spanning 31 years is beginning to take its toll.

"He will always it [to be a part of football] because he has the most insatiable appetite for producing football teams that can win football matches," the QPR legend told Kick Off.

"He will be devastated at the position QPR are in. He will be looking at every possibility in terms of bringing one individual into the football club or making a change to the personnel within the football club.

"He will be looking at the structure of the team and the way it shapes up to win the next game because that’s the way Harry works, he loves it.

"But obviously having worked closely with him over that period of time [at Tottenham], I would say he looks tired. He looks like a combination of things over the last three years have maybe taken their toll and I don’t see that spark I know he has.

"He will never lose the passion because he’s a football man. Knowing him and looking at him I feel there’s maybe a little edge he hasn’t had this season as he’s had before."

However, despite the pressure being ratcheted up on Redknapp, Allen believes QPR would be foolish to look elsewhere for someone to lead the club out of the relegation mire.

"When you think it's over a thousand games he’s managed, there’s no one with the experience he has and actually no one with the nous that would get Queens Park Rangers out of the predicament they find themselves in now," the former Spurs assistant added.
