Better than Di Stefano? How Ronaldo compares to the Real Madrid legend

Cristiano Ronaldo compared to Alfredo Di Stefano

As the debate over where Cristiano Ronaldo features in the pantheon of football greats rages on, Real Madrid legend Francisco Gento has offered his significantly weighty opinion.

The Los Blancos hero - who played 606 times for the club between 1953 and 1971, winning six European Cups – described the Portuguese superstar as “one of a kind”, before comparing him to another Real great Alfredo Di Stefano.

Calling him a ‘worthy heir’ to the former striker, Gento lavished praise on Ronaldo, likening him to the man who helped inspire Madrid to eight Spanish league titles and five European Cups between 1953 and 1964.

Are the two comparable?

Perhaps the statistics above shed some light on that answer.
