Exclusive – Sugar insists: ‘Tottenham takeover talk is absolute rubbish!’

Lord Sugar has rubbished speculation Tottenham could be taken over by a US consortium.

A group of California-based businessmen are reportedly keen to take control at White Hart Lane having secured backing from a major global private equity investor.

But Sugar, the former chairman who retains close ties to the north London club, has told talkSPORT it’s ‘nonsense’.

"I can tell you there is no takeover,” he insisted on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, after he had given his backing to current chairman Daniel Levy.

“It is all nonsense, it is all rubbish, and the company that have made that statement are doing it for their own publicity. It is total and absolute rubbish."
