Manchester United FC news: Jose Mourinho says David De Gea must stay focused for rest of season amid fresh Real Madrid links

Jose Mourinho is demanding 'total focus' from David De Gea amid renewed speculation linking the Manchester United goalkeeper with a move to Real Madrid.

The Spaniard is a long-term target for Real and is reportedly on their radar again ahead of the summer transfer window.

De Gea was left out of United's starting line-up for win over Sunderland on Sunday and reports have suggested that was down to a bust-up with Mourinho - although United insist he was carring a hip injury.

Mourinho refused to discuss the likelihood of the 26-year-old moving on when quizzed by reporters on Wednesday, and urged De Gea to shelve any thoughts about his future until the end of the season.

"I'm not interested in the speculation," said the United boss

"I think if the player is, he shouldn't be because we are playing very important teams and every match for us is crucial.

"In the Premier League we lose a match and the top-four gets almost impossible, in the Europa League we lose a match and we are in trouble. Every match is one that demands from every one of us total focus.

"I don't see David having any problem with it at all. The end of the season is the time when players can be thinking what is going to happen with their careers, but I think that's end of season."
