'Fabulous' Kane has England future, believes Pardew

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has backed Harry Kane to be an England star ahead of their Capital One Cup clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 21-year-old striker is in scintillating form for the Lilywhites and played a pivotal role in their smash-and-grab 2-1 victory over Swansea at the weekend, scoring the opening goal and displaying drive and menace throughout the match.

And Toon boss Pardew, who has been marvelling at his performances from afar, believes Roy Hodgson should consider himself fortunate there is a young English forward of such quality making progress in the Premier League.

"I think he [Harry Kane] is fabulous,” admitted Pardew.

"I watched him on Sunday [against Swansea City] and when you have got an English striker who can do 13km at pace and have the quality and technical ability in the box, [England manager] Roy Hodgson should count himself very lucky."
