Liverpool FC news: ‘Dejan Lovren lacks the ability…to DEFEND!’ – Fans react to contract renewal

Dejan Lovren has extended his Liverpool contract and fans are not impressed.

The Croatian's new deal will keep him at Anfield until 2021, with the Reds having the option of a further 12 months, and it will see him earn a reported £100,000 a week.

The 28-year-old, who moved to Merseyside from Southampton in 2014, has formed a partnership with Joel Matip in the centre of defence, making a total of 28 appearances this season, scoring two and assisting one this season.

"This is one special day for me and my family," he said.

"I think I am the happiest guy [in the world] today, it's another dream come true. It was always my dream to stay as long as possible at one club that I love - and that is Liverpool."
