Transfer Latest: ‘AC Milan wouldn’t stand in the way of Torres going back to Liverpool’

Leading Italian football journalist Gabriele Marcotti admits AC Milan wouldn't stand in the way of Fernando Torres going back to Liverpool - but doubts the move will happen.

The Spanish international has been a disappointment since moving to the San Siro on loan from Chelsea, and the deal has not worked out for either party.

There have been shock suggestions Torres could make a suprise return to Anfield, but Marcotti is sceptical about the possibility of that happening.

“Milan would love to figure out a way to send him back, or to send him someplace else, and Atletico Madrid have been talked about in terms of a possible loan swap with Alessio Cerci," he said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.

“This Liverpool link seems so extraordinary and so left-field, but Milan wouldn’t stand in the way [of it] and I’m sure Torres would love to go someplace where he could get on the pitch

“But whether Brendan Rodgers has even the slightest interest in him I really would be very surprised."
