Senegal left-back Souare set for Crystal Palace switch

Senegal left-back Pape Souare is set to join Crystal Palace pending a medical

Senegal left-back Pape Souare is set to join Crystal Palace pending a medical.

The 24-year-old is currently returning from the African Cup of Nations after Senegal were knocked out by Algeria on Tuesday.

Souare has made 45 appearances for Lille since graduating from their 'B' team in 2010 and Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew feels he would be a great addition to the south London club.

Pardew said: "The process is way down the line. The medical could be as early as today (Thursday) and if he passes then he will be signing too."

The left-back would be Palace's would be third signing of the transfer window following the purchase of Jordon Mutch for £4.5m from QPR and Shola Ameobi on a free transfer, and the Eagles boss is happy with the business they have done in January.

Pardew added: "He will be the last player to come in, there'll be no more deals. I'm pleased the board has backed me."
