Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira plays down talks of Saint-Etienne move and commits to New York City

Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has dismissed reports claiming he will be the new boss of Saint-Etienne.

The French club had been linked with a swoop for the 40-year-old after current coach Christophe Galtier announced he was leaving this summer.

But Vieira has now swiftly responded to the speculation by committing himself to his current employers New York City FC.

"Of course I will stay here. I set out on a long-term project with New York City," Vieira told the New York Post.

"The only thing is you can't control reports from journalists. The thing is that it is a really interesting project and I am into it. I love every single day of it.

"Speculation is part of our world and I get used to it."
