Exclusive – Pellegrini’s job is hanging by a thread, claims former Man City defender

Former Manchester City defender Danny Mills admits Manuel Pellegrini is hanging on to the Etihad top job by his fingernails.
The Blues were defeated 1-0 by relegation battlers Burnley on Saturday night, and could see Chelsea move 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table if they win their two games in hand.
The picture does not look any brighter in Europe, with a 2-1 defeat to Barcelona in their Champions League last-16 first leg clash leaving the club on the verge of an exit.
Roberto Mancini paid with his job for a season without a trophy in 2013 and ex-defender Mills believes the Chilean is facing a similar fate.
“If Manchester City are trophyless at the end of the season I would fear for Manuel Pellegrini’s job,” he told the Weekend Sports Breakfast show.
“We’ve seen it before at Manchester City, when Roberto Mancini managed to win the title one year but nothing the next, he didn’t stay in the job.”
