UEFA.com have announced their Team of the Year for 2015 as voted for by their users.

It was a disappointing year for the Premier League as no players were represented in the team, with nine players coming from La Liga.

There are a few surprises but Lionel Messi was present for the seventh time after being included in 70 per cent of the teams selected.

However, it was Cristiano Ronaldo who created history with a record breaking 10th appearance in the UEFA Team of the Year and he is also the only player to be included in two positions (midfield and forward).

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez was the player who gained the most Twitter votes but ultimately missed out on the overall XI.
