Transfer report: Lazio ‘in pole position’ to sign departing Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva

Lazio are firmly in pole position to sign experienced Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva this summer.
The Rome giants are on the lookout for a replacement for star playmaker Lucas Biglia, who is expected to join AC Milan after a bid in the region of £15million was accepted.
And with Biglia expected to depart within the coming days, Lazio have lined up 30-year-old Lucas as the ideal replacement.
According to reports in Italy, the Stadio Olimpico giants are in pole position to complete a move for the Brazilian and have made signing him a priority this summer.
Lucas has enjoyed an extensive career at Anfield, winning the club's Player of the Year award in 2011 during his ten-year affiliation with the Reds.
However, the midfielder is not expected to be a major part of manager Jurgen Klopp's plans this season, meaning a move away is the most likely outcome.
