DEAL OFF! Nice abandon move for Arsenal outcast Mathieu Debuchy over wage demands

Nice have called off their formal approach for Arsenal's out-of-favour full-back Mathieu Debuchy, due to his extortionate wage demands.

The 31-year-old is desperate to leave the Gunners this summer in a bid to reinvigorate his career, after falling well down the pecking order at the Emirates.

And, although Nice were on the verge of completing a deal to bring Debuchy back to Ligue 1, it appears the move could be in doubt.

According to reports in France, the Nice have diverted their attentions to other transfer targets, after acknowledging Debuchy's wage demands are unaffordable.

Nice are believed to be close to securing a deal for French defender Christophe Jallet on a free transfer after his release from Lyon at the end of last season.

And it seems Debuchy will now need to find a new club to escape his Arsenal nightmare as Nice are not expected to come back for him this summer.

The Frenchman still has two years left on his contract with the Gunners.
