Manchester City close to reaching £50m deal with Monaco for star defender Benjamin Mendy

Manchester City are close to reaching an agreement with Monaco for star full-back Benjamin Mendy.
City have been extensively linked with the 23-year-old throughout the summer window and despite Monaco's reluctance to sell, the Premier League giants have seemingly made a breakthrough.
That is according to L'Equipe, who claim negotiations between both parties continued last night and a deal for the highly-rated defender could be struck later today.
Monaco are demanding City fork out the same money that they paid to Tottenham for the services of Kyle Walker earlier in the window.
And the two clubs are set to negotiate on the basis of a £50m deal, with the likelihood of an agreement being reached imminently.
With Guardiola expensively revamping his squad ahead of next season's Premier League title push, the Spaniard may seemingly be about to land his number on target as a deal for Mendy edges closer.
