Watford boss Marco Silva denies making approach for Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic after pair worked together at Hull City

Watford boss Marco Silva has denied making an approach for Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic.

The Serbian shone under Silva last season while on loan at Hull City and it was rumoured the pair would link up again at Vicarage Road.

Markovic has been told he can leave Liverpool this summer and he has been linked with moves to Fiorentina and Watford.

However, Silva has now revealed that the Hornets are yet to make an offer for the 23-year-old despite the mounting speculation.

"Of course you know the truth is we didn't do nothing about Markovic as well," said Silva.

"Of course it is easy for you to understand, he is one player who played very well for me in the last four months at Hull.

"He is one player who won't stay in Liverpool. But at the moment he is a Liverpool player and I am here to talk about our players and the players who have contracts.

"We need to complete our roster, we need to put more competitive players in our roster to help everybody to improve.

"I answer to you direct, about Markovic, we did not make an offer to Liverpool for the player."
