Daniel Sturridge injury UPDATE: Liverpool striker to miss Atletico Madrid friendly ‘as precaution’

Liverpool have confirmed striker Daniel Sturridge will sit out Wednesday’s friendly clash against Atletico Madrid after picking up an injury.
The Reds take on the Spanish giants at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night in the final of the Audi Cup.
Jurgen Klopp’s side sealed their place in the pre-season showcase by beating Bayern Munich 3-0 on Tuesday, with Sturridge scoring the third and final goal.
But the England striker pulled up with injury shortly after netting with a cool chip, with Klopp later confirming he had suffered a thigh problem.
The Reds boss said following the game that he hoped it was nothing serious, although conceded he was not yet sure of the severity of the problem.

And Liverpool have now confirmed he will miss Wednesday’s final ‘as a precautionary measure’, but the club have not been ruled him out of any other games, with the Reds due to face Athletic Bilbao in Dublin on Saturday.
A club statement read: “Sturridge will be treated at the club’s training base in Rottach-Egern today and the issue will continue to be monitored, although there are currently no plans for a scan to take place in Germany.
“As it stands, the No.15 is not ruled out of any further matches beyond this evening’s.”
Sturridge was more upbeat about the situation after the win over Bayern and insisted it the niggling injury was only a product of pre-season fatigue.
"It's just a little bit of tension kicking off," the striker said in his post-match television interview.
"I've done a lot of running and a lot of work. We train on the morning of the games. I think it's just a bit of fatigue to be honest. I'll be okay.
"I'm feeling great, I've put in a lot of work, I trained a lot in the summer in LA. I haven't missed many sessions here, they're looking after me, we have done triple sessions and things like that.
"I've trained nearly every session. I'm feeling the best I've felt for a little while and I'm looking forward to the season and hopefully we can have some success."
Sturridge made 27 appearances for Liverpool last season but still had a number of niggling injuries, an issue which has plagued his four-and-a-half years at Anfield.
