Tim Sherwood wants more goals from Aston Villa star Fabian Delph

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood wants more goals as part of Fabian Delph's new deal at the club.

The midfielder has been a pivotal figure in getting Villa out of the relegation mire and into the FA Cup Final since the new manager's arrival and he has been rewarded with a new long-term contract.

Now Sherwood wants to see a few more goals from the former Leeds wonderkid to add to his already long list of attributes.

"Fabian is the skipper," Sherwood said. "He wears his heart on his sleeve. He has signed a contract when he could have gone to a club in the top four. He is what I need. I need characters like him.

"He was driving forward from midfield against Liverpool (in the cup semi-final). But I have said to him that he has to add goals to his game.

"He has scored two now since I have been here. He has got the energy and quality to keep that going."
