Exclusive – ‘Unplayable’ Man United star Fellaini hailed by ex-Everton captain

Former Everton captain Alan Stubbs has praised the impact of Marouane Fellaini at Manchester United this season

Former Everton captain Alan Stubbs has praised the impact of Marouane Fellaini at Manchester United this season.

The Belgian had a poor first campaign at Old Trafford following a £27.5million transfer from the Toffees but has become an influential figure for Louis van Gaal.

And Stubbs, who coached Fellaini at Goodison Park believes the midfielder will only get better.

He told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: “When Fellaini went to Manchester United everybody knew what an influential player he was and he’s still only 27. It probably took him quite a bit to realise how big the club is and to settle in.

“Everyone now is talking about Fellaini being such an important player under Louis van Gaal and what a good player he is. It’s amazing he wasn’t that good under David Moyes but now he’s good under Louis van Gaal.

“He’s quite a quiet guy. He’s a brilliant professional and he’s always in doing extra work after games, he’s very good that way. He’s a nightmare to play against because he’s so big. He’s got a great touch, his close control is very good and he’s got an eye for a goal.

“Fellaini can be as good as he wants to be. He’s only going to get better”
