AP McCoy might have had to settle for third in the last race of his career but on Monday morning the prize that has always alluded him became a reality on Monday morning.
Speaking to Danny Kelly and Danny Murphy the 40-year-old revealed he was set to tuck into a bacon and sausage sandwich.
Jockeys are known for their strict training and diet regimes during the season, and often just have a cup of tea with sugar for breakfast.
At Sandown Park on Saturday more than 18,000 people gathered to salute the jockey’s final appearance, and the crowds cheered McCoy’s final two showings.
A tearful McCoy said: “It’s amazing. I’ve been so lucky all my life. I’ll never forget this day.”
