Transfer news: West Brom join Everton in expressing an interest in former Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen

West Brom are the latest club to be linked with a move for ex-Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen.
The Belgian has suffered an injury-plagued spell at Barcelona since his arrival in 2014 and has so far managed just 11 LaLiga outings for the club.
He spent time on loan at Roma last season but the Serie A side decided against making the move permanent.
But he looks set to leave Barca for good before the window shuts and reports this summer have suggested that Everton boss Ronald Koeman is considering a bid.
Now Spanish newspaper El Mundo Deportivo has claimed that their Premier League rivals West Brom are also ready to swoop.
It has been suggested that Everton have already held talks about a move but, unsurprisingly, they want some assurances over Vermaelen's fitness.
But West Brom could give Vermaelen a decision to make should they decide to firm up their reported interest with an offer.
