Transfer news: Roma eyeing deal for Juan Cuadrado after failing to land Leicester's Riyad Mahrez

Roma have turned their attentions to Juan Cuadrado after failing to land Leicester's Riyad Mahrez.

Former Chelsea man Cuadrado emerged as a surprise target for Arsenal earlier this summer but he has so far stayed put at Juventus.

The Colombian is considered an important member of the Italian champions' squad and it has been suggested that only a substantial offer would be enough to even tempt Juve into selling.

But the Gazzetta dello Sport have now claimed that Roma are considering a move for Cuadrado with a winger still their transfer priority.

They had been attempting to prise Mahrez away from Leicester but after a series of big-money bids were unsuccessful, Roma officially withdrew their interest in him earlier this week.

But they might find that a bid of around £30m, which is similar to what they offered Leicester for Mahrez, couldbe enough to land Cuadrado.

The 29-year-old, who can operate in midfield or defence, made 30 Serie A appearances last season, scoring twice.
